Windsor’s importance has always been based on the fact that it is a transport hub. In Saxon times, the pilgrims came to Windsor to ford the river, the Castle was built to safeguard
the river crossing. Later the railways arrived to service the Castle and the College and it is now trapped between three
motorways.Walk led by Richard Wilson.
