Festival Heritage Walk - Cookham Church
Tuesday 23rd September, 2:30pm - Cookham Church
Like many of the riverside churches in Berkshire, the origins of Holy Trinity are Saxon; quite often the Church was a refreshment and accommodation point next to a river
crossing. The Normans invested in the Church and expanded it and the Church prospered over the years; the Victorians
carried their usual makeover but without any dire effect on the basic fabric of the Church. In recent years, Stanley Spencer worked closely with the Church and his painting of the Last Supper hangs in the Nave.
